18 August 2025 – Calves, Chooks, and Ducks

The milking cows have all dropped nice looking Lowline Angus cross calves. We will also raise a handful of bobby calves from a local dairy farm on these cows. They have enough milk to feed several calves, and by carefully introducing the foster calves the mothers are happy to let them suckle in a calm controlled area.

Here is our newest flock of chooks – nestled into the trees at the top end of the long paddock. They have a choice of grass in the pasture, and leaf mulch under the trees. Also lots of sunny spots in the dirt for dust bathing. The ex-posty bike is eggcellent for collecting eggs.

There are lots of Paradise ducks around at the moment finding places to nest (no, not here!)
